Set Gradebook Configuration

This topic covers how to set the Gradebook configuration for a class.

  1. Select a class to configure the Gradebook for that class.

  2. Select Settings from the left sidebar.

  3. Select the Basic Settings tab if it is not already selected.

  4. At the bottom of this page, click the drop-down menu to the right of Gradebook Configuration, and select the type of Gradebook you would like to use.
    • Classic: This configuration allows you to use the traditional Gradebook and removes standard tagging options from your class. You may want to use this configuration if you need to keep a record of how students perform on each individual assignment and do not need to record standards performance.
    • Standards Based Gradebook: This configuration removes the traditional Gradebook function from the class and allows you to create assignments that do not necessarily have a traditional grade. The focus is on how the students perform on the standard(s) assessed by each assignment. You may want to use this configuration if you do not need to keep a record of how students perform on each individual assignment and only need to record standards performance.
    • Classic + Standards (Scaled): This configuration uses both the Classic Gradebook and the Standards Gradebook. You may want to use this configuration if your class’s standards scale is independent of the grading scale. Standards scores will be automatically scaled to your Gradebook scores but can be changed as needed. For example, a student who scores 75 out of 100 on an assignment will earn 3 out of 4 on a 4-point standards scale, but you may award the student any score you think he/she has earned.
    • Classic + Standards (Mapped): This configuration uses both the Classic Gradebook and the Standards Gradebook. You may want to use this configuration if your class’s standards scale is mapped to the grading scale. Standards scores will be automatically scaled to your Gradebook scores but can be changed as needed. For example, your grading scale could be set such that 85% automatically earns a score of 2.5 on the standards scale.

  5. Click the green Submit button at the bottom of the page to save your Gradebook configuration.
