Set Additional Standards Settings

This topic covers how to configure advanced standards options.

  1. Select a class to access your standards settings.

  2. Select Standards from the left sidebar.



  3. Select the Standards Settings tab, and scroll toward the bottom of the page.



  4. Calculating Standard Score: Select your desired option for calculating students' standards scores.
    • Average: This option will average all scores for a standard and present the overall average for that standard in the standards Gradebook.
    • Moving Average: This option will allow you to determine the number of past assessments of a standard that you would like factored into the student’s average for that standard in the standards Gradebook.
    • Most Recent: This option will show the most recent score for a standard. You may weight this so that the most recent score for each standard will be weighted more heavily.
    • Max Score: This option will show the highest score earned for a standard. You may weight this so that the highest score for each standard will be weighted more heavily.
    • Median: This option will show the median score for a standard.

  5. Display Options: Select your desired display for your standards based Gradebook.
    • Score: This option will display the overall score for each standard from your standards scale as the default view for your standards Gradebook.
    • Percent: This option will display the overall percentage for each standard as the default view for your standards Gradebook.
    • Mastery: This option will display the mastery level for each standard from your standards scale as the default view for your standards Gradebook.
    • Letter Grade: This option will display the overall letter grade for each standard as the default view for your standards Gradebook.
    • Default view: Select Show expandable Categories view to see student averages in standard categories. Select Show flat Standards-only view to only view student scores on individual standards.

  6. Standards Filtering: Select the desired filtering method for your standards sets.
    • All Subjects: If you would like to be able to tag standards in subject areas other than the subject area set for your class, check this box to view all subjects’ standards for your class’s grade level.
    • All Grade Levels: If you would like to be able to tag standards in grade levels other than the grade level set for your class, check this box to view all grade levels’ standards for your class’s subject area.

  7. Standards Mode: Select your desired standards mode. 
    • Basic: With this mode enabled, when you create new assignments, Engrade will automatically calculate your standards scores relative to the scores you enter for assignments. Teachers must go back to the assignment if they wish to make adjustments to standards performance.
    • Advanced: With this mode enabled, when you create new assignments, Engrade will show you a grid as you enter scores that allows you to see the standards scores next to the traditional scores/points, which you may update as desired.

  8. When you have finished updating your standards settings, click the green Save Settings button to save.
