Create: Rubrics

This topic covers how to create a rubric.

  1. Select Tests & Quizzes on the left sidebar.

  2. Select the My Test Library tab.

  3. Hover over the Item Banks button, and select Rubric Bank from the drop-down menu.


  4. Select the Create New Rubric button at the top.

  5. Enter the following information for your new rubric:
    • Title: Enter a title for your rubric.
    • Subject: Select the appropriate subject area from the drop-down menu.
    • Minimum/Maximum Grade Level: Select the desired minimum and maximum grade levels that apply to your rubric.
    • Rubric Size: Select the desired dimensions for your rubric.
    • Objectives: Enter the text of each Objective title in the left-most column from top to bottom (vertically).
    • Levels: Enter the text of each Level title in the top, colored text-boxes from left to right (horizontally).
    • Pts: Enter each level’s point value in the pts text-boxes directly beneath the level’s title boxes.
    • Rubric Content: Enter the text of each level objective in the appropriate cell.

  6. Select Tagging options… to reveal a menu of additional tags for your rubric. Options include:
    • Student Populations: Check the box next to each appropriate student group.
    • Language: Select a language from the drop-down menu.
    • Keywords: Enter any keywords that you would like to associate with your rubric, ensuring that each keyword is separated by a comma.
    • Taxonomies: Enter the appropriate number in the text box(es).

  7. Select the green Submit button to save your rubric. The newly created rubric will now appear in your rubric bank for you to utilize within test questions, or to share with others.
