This topic covers how to create a passage glossary where you can define terms or words within a passage for students to see while test-taking.
- Select Tests & Quizzes on the left sidebar.
- Select the My Test Library tab.
- Hover over the Item Banks button, and select Passage Bank from the drop-down menu.
- Locate the passage for which you would like to add a glossary. If needed, you may use the Filters or Filter By Standard buttons to search for your passage.
- Once you have located the passage, select Edit under the Options & Details column.
If you do not see Edit next to a particular passage, then you have been given View only permissions and will not be able to add a glossary or edit other parts of this passage.
- On the passage screen, select +add glossary to open the glossary pop-up window.
- In the glossary pop-up window, enter the term(s) and their appropriate definitions in the text boxes.
The exact term must exist as a word within the passage in order for the glossary tool to be able to define it.
- Select +add term to add additional terms.
- Select the green Save Glossary button to create the glossary within the passage.
- Select the green Submit button at the bottom of the passage screen to save the passage with the newly added glossary.
- Within the passage text, defined terms will appear with a line beneath them. Students can hover over the terms to view their definitions.
