Create: Tests

This topic covers how to create tests.

  1. Select Tests & Quizzes from the left sidebar.

  2. Select the My Test Library tab to see tests you or others at your school have created, or to create new tests.

  3. If you would like to create a new test, click the New Test button.



  4. Enter the following information for your test:
    • Title: Enter the title of your test.
    • Instance: Enter the instance, or time, the test was given. e.g. Winter 2015. Please note this option is only applicable to administrators.
    • Subject: Select the appropriate subject area.
    • Minimum/Maximum Grade Level: Select the desired minimum and maximum grade levels that can access the test.
    • Time Limit: Select the desired time limit, or select None.



  5. Click the checkbox next to each option you would like to enable:
    • Allow students to cross out answers allows students to eliminate answer choices for multiple choice questions.
    • Hide question navigation bar allows you to hide the navigation bar from students so they are guided through each question sequentially, and are not able to skip or come back to questions.
    • Hide answer choice letters allows you to hide the letters that appear alongside choices in multiple choice or multi choice/multi select questions (i.e. the letters for choice a., b., c., d., etc.)
    • Randomize question order allows you to randomize the order of questions on your test.
    • Show question type instructions displays instructions on how to answer each type of question to students.



  6. Click the checkbox next to each tool you would like to make available to students while test-taking:
    • Highlighter allows students to use a highlighter tool to highlight text within passages and questions.
    • Notepad provides students with a notepad to take notes throughout the test.
    • Magnifier provides students with a magnifying tool to enlarge text within passages and questions.
    • Calculator provides students with a calculator tool to use during the test. If you select the option to allow students to use a calculator while test-taking, you will have the option to select a Simple, Scientific, or Graphing calculator type.
    • Protractor provides students with a protractor tool to use during the test.
    • Reference Sheet allows students to have access to a file while test-taking. Select + select file to upload a file you would like your students to have access to during the test.

  7. Select the option that best describes how you would like your students to be able to view their answers:
    • Students may never view answers nor scores
    • Students may never view answers
    • Students may view answers after completing the test
    • Students may view answers after the test is closed



  8. To tag your test with searchable parameters, click More options and tags…
    • Custom Introduction: Enter a message for students or any special instructions for the test in this field. Students will view this information immediately prior to taking the test.
    • Description: Enter a description of your test, if desired.
    • Student Populations: Check the box next to English Language Learners (ELL) or Gifted Students to tag the test appropriately.
    • Language: Select a language from the drop-down menu.



  9. Click the green Submit button to create your test.

  10. Once your test is created, you will be taken to the Edit Test page where you can begin adding questions to your test.
