Edit: Question Scoring Options

This topic covers how to adjust scoring options for questions.

  1. On the Add Question or Edit Question page, select an option from the Scoring Type drop-down menu.

  2. Perfect Response indicates the student must get every response correct to earn credit for the question. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Multiple Choice, Multi Select
    • Matching
    • Fill-in-the-Blank
    • Cloze
    • Image Labels
    • Bucketing
    • Ordering
    • Graphing
    • Select Text

  3. Additive indicates the student will earn points for each correct response. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Matching
    • Fill-in-the-Blank
    • Cloze
    • Image Labels

  4. Additive with Negation indicates the student will earn points for each correct response and will lose points for each incorrect response. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Multiple Choice, Multi Select
    • Graphing
    • Select Text

  5. Additive Buckets indicates the student will earn points for each correct bucket. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Bucketing

  6. Additive Position indicates the student will earn points for each correct placement of an image/word according to the order. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Ordering

  7. Additive Consecutive indicates the student will earn points for each consecutive correct placement of images/words according to the order. For example, if you have a list of three items to order, the question will be worth two points because there are two consecutive placements in the list of three. Question types that offer this scoring option are:
    • Ordering

  8. Advanced scoring allows you to set certain conditions which a student must meet in order to earn a specified amount of points. Question types offering this scoring option are:
    • Multiple Choice, Multi Select
    • Matching
    • Cloze
    • Bucketing
    • Ordering

  9. Average Score applies to scoring using the Rubric tool. The student will earn the average score s/he received across the rubric’s levels.

  10. Total Score applies to scoring using the Rubric tool. The student will earn the sum of scores s/he received across the rubric’s levels.

  11. In the Points or Points each section, enter a whole number.
     
  12. Make any other desired changes to the question.

  13. Click the green Save Question button to save your changes.
